Information we collect
Forktold may collect information you provide, such as your name, email address, messages, recipe feedback, ratings, dietary preferences, allergy information, cooking experience, saved recipes, and ?My Fork? preferences. The current prototype stores My Fork preferences locally in your browser and does not transmit those preferences to Forktold.
Our hosting and security providers may automatically process technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, referring page, approximate location, request time, and security events. If analytics are introduced, this policy and our consent tools will be updated before nonessential tracking is activated where consent is required.
How information is used

- Respond to requests and administer feedback.
- Understand recipe performance and develop ForkScore recommendations.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical failures.

Sharing
We may share information with vendors that host, secure, analyze, or support the service; when you direct us to; as part of a business transaction; or when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information for money. If our practices later constitute ?sale,? ?sharing,? or targeted advertising under an applicable privacy law, we will provide required notices and choices.
Retention and security
We retain information only as reasonably needed for the purposes above, legal obligations, disputes, and security. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may clear My Fork data through your browser?s site-data controls. You may request access, correction, or deletion of information we control through our contact page. Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply. We will verify requests where appropriate and will not discriminate for exercising a legal privacy right.
Children and international users
Forktold is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child submitted information, contact us. Forktold operates from the United States; information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate.
Terms of Service
By accessing Forktold, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be legally capable of entering this agreement and must supervise minors who use recipes or kitchen equipment.
Service and recommendations
Forktold provides informational recipe discovery, comparison, and cooking guidance. ForkScores, taste matches, authenticity assessments, times, difficulty ratings, and AI-assisted recommendations are opinions and estimates based on available evidence. They are not guarantees. Features and content may change or be withdrawn.
Acceptable use
You may use Forktold for personal, lawful purposes. You may not interfere with the service; bypass security; scrape or harvest content at scale; copy or commercially exploit Forktold content without permission; submit unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or harmful material; impersonate others; or use Forktold to violate another service?s terms.
User submissions
You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant Forktold a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, adapt, analyze, and display that content to operate and improve the service. You represent that you have the necessary rights and that your submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Do not submit confidential information.
Third-party content and links
Forktold may link to or embed content from recipe publishers, creators, retailers, and platforms. They control their content and services. A link, comparison, or score is not an endorsement, partnership, or claim of ownership.
Disclaimer and limitation
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FORKTOLD IS PROVIDED ?AS IS? AND ?AS AVAILABLE,? WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, FITNESS, MERCHANTABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR RESULTS. COOKING INVOLVES RISKS INCLUDING HEAT, FIRE, SHARP TOOLS, RAW FOOD, ALLERGENS, AND FOODBORNE ILLNESS. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFE PRACTICES AND YOUR DECISIONS.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Forktold and its owner, contributors, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of data, profits, goodwill, or personal injury arising from use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits may not fully apply.
Governing law and changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. We may update them by posting a revised effective date. Continued use after an update means acceptance of the revised Terms.

Third-party recipe names, creator names, photographs, videos, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Ingredient lists, cooking facts, and general techniques may be compared, but Forktold does not intend to reproduce a publisher?s protected expression. We aim to credit and link influential sources. Permission is required to reproduce Forktold content beyond fair, personal use.
DMCA Copyright Policy
If you believe material on Forktold infringes your copyright, send a written notice containing: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) identification and location of the allegedly infringing material; (4) your contact information; (5) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act.
Send notices through the contact page with the subject ?DMCA Notice.? A valid counter-notice should identify the removed material and its former location, include consent to applicable federal-court jurisdiction and service of process, and state under penalty of perjury that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification. Forktold may forward notices to the affected user and may terminate repeat infringers.
Operational requirement: Before accepting public uploads at scale, Forktold should appoint and register a designated DMCA agent with the U.S. Copyright Office and publish the agent?s legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email here.
Food Allergy Disclaimer
Never rely on Forktold alone to determine whether food is allergen-free. Recipes, substitutions, restaurant comparisons, AI outputs, and dietary labels may be incomplete or wrong. Ingredients and manufacturing practices change, and cross-contact can occur in homes, restaurants, stores, and factories.
Always read current product labels, verify every ingredient with its manufacturer when necessary, clean equipment and surfaces appropriately, and consult a qualified medical professional about allergies. If you have a severe allergy, use heightened precautions and do not assume ?may contain,? shared-facility, or cross-contact risks have been identified.
Nutrition & Health Disclaimer
Nutrition values are estimates and can vary materially with brands, quantities, substitutions, preparation, serving size, and calculation method. Forktold is not a medical, nutrition, or dietetics service, and its content is not diagnosis, treatment, or individualized health advice.
Consult a physician or registered dietitian for medical conditions, pregnancy, medication interactions, eating disorders, therapeutic diets, or material dietary changes. Do not delay professional care because of Forktold content.
Affiliate Disclosure
Forktold may eventually earn a commission when a user purchases through a clearly identified affiliate link, at no additional cost to the user. Paid relationships will be disclosed near the relevant recommendation. Compensation will not purchase a ForkScore or guarantee favorable treatment.
At the effective date above, the prototype does not contain active paid affiliate placements. This disclosure establishes the standard Forktold will follow if affiliate links are introduced.
AI & Recommendation Disclosure
Forktold may use artificial intelligence to organize information, identify patterns, summarize permitted source material, estimate matches, suggest substitutions, assist drafting, and support ForkScore analysis. AI can misunderstand context, invent facts, miss allergens, or provide unsafe instructions.
AI output is one input?not proof. Forktold aims to distinguish tested findings, external evidence, community feedback, and AI-generated inference. Material cooking and safety claims should receive human review before publication. We do not train an independent foundation model on publisher or social-platform content, and we do not claim ownership of third-party sources.
Users should independently verify ingredient safety, temperatures, nutrition, and other consequential information. Feedback about an AI-supported result can be submitted through our contact page.
